Key Features

Software

Continuous Condition Monitoring

Optimize Processes

by detecting faulty battery cells based on their state of health at an early stage and without additional tests. We combine information from third-party systems, such as an outgoing goods inspection, with our condition monitoring during storage or transportation. This allows us to draw conclusions about the current state of health and gives you the opportunity to react immediately.

Alert System

Early Warning System

Enhance Safety

for both personnel and equipment around battery cells with the Lokistix early warning system. In addition to condition monitoring, an advanced algorithm can be activated to detect critical anomalies in transported or stored goods, triggering instant push notifications to any device.

Thermal Regulation

Passive Cooling Material

Mitigate Risk of Thermal Runaway

by absorbing temperature fluctuations with the innovative Lokistix passive preventive cooling material. Thermal events caused by production defects or critical environmental conditions will no longer harm your batteries, because we are keeping them within a healthy temperature range for you.

Flame Barrier neu

Flame Barrier

Prevent Thermal Propagation

by evacuating the box from hot venting gases and surpressing flames in the event of a thermal runaway. Our highly-effective inner packaging prevents neighboring cells from being affected, significantly reducing the effects of a thermal event.

Suitable for the Entire Supply Chain

Transportation

The transport of lithium-ion batteries is classified as Class 9 dangerous goods and is therefore subject to various requirements depending on the mode of transport.

Learn more

Our solution supports the compliance with the following requirements:

ADR: European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road

ADN: European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways

RID: Regulation concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail

IATA: International Air Transport Association

Storage

When it comes to regulations regarding the storage of lithium-ion batteries, various legal frameworks and standards must be considered to ensure safety, particularly regarding fire protection, hazardous materials handling, and structural requirements.

Learn more

Our solution supports the compliance with applicable regulations, which are for instance:

Building Codes (e.g. Landesbauordnung in Germany)

Fire Protection Standards (e.g. DIN 4102, DIN 18015, NFPA 855)

Safety Standards for Hazardous Substances (e.g. GefStoffV in Germany, OSHA in the U.S.)

FAQ

What are UN regulations for transportation of lithium-ion batteries?

Batteries are highly efficient energy carriers, that also bare risk of venting toxic gases, burn or even explode when handeled incorrectly. Therefore, the UN released a framework dealing with classification, packaging, labeling and transport conditions of lithium-ion batteries. As such, lithium-ion batteries fall under Class 9 - Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods with the following UN numbers:

  • UN 3480: Lithium-ion batteries
  • UN 3481: Lithium-ion batteries contained in or packed with equipment

These UN regulations are adopted into legally binding regulations by different international organizations:

  • ADR
  • IMDG
  • RID
  • IATA

What is the size of the box?

The box is available in small (S), medium (M) and large (L) sizes, each of which is compatible with a standard Euro pallet:

S: 600 x 400 mm

M: 800 x 600 mm

L: 1200 x 800 mm

The height depends on the dimensions of the battery being transported.

Where can I buy it and how much are the costs?

The boxes are only sold directly by Lokistix GmbH from Austria. Costs are divided into one-off costs for the hardware and recurring license costs for monitoring, 3rd party integrations, and the early warning system. Please reach out to discuss a quote.
