Receive batteries and devices
Accept used batteries, returned devices, production scrap and other defined feedstock at the appropriate collection or receiving point.
Collection and recycling
Used batteries, returned devices, production scrap and mixed recycling feedstock arrive with different conditions and different levels of information. A defined process helps teams receive, review, store and hand over material without losing the context needed for the next step.
EU battery regulation
Under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, distributors must take back certain waste batteries from end-users free of charge and without requiring a purchase. The regulation distinguishes waste batteries from products containing batteries; applicable categories and national implementation require case-by-case review. For retailers, this means defined intake, temporary-storage and handover processes.
From 1 October 2026, national take-back and information duties also apply to battery retailers in Austria. Used batteries must be accepted free of charge according to their battery category, and distance selling has specific requirements for publicly accessible return points. LOKI-FlexProtect can support safer temporary storage during intake, but it does not replace legal review or a required take-back organisation.
Inside the collection flow
A reliable flow starts at intake and continues through review, temporary storage, pickup, consolidation and feedstock preparation.
Accept used batteries, returned devices, production scrap and other defined feedstock at the appropriate collection or receiving point.
Capture available information and identify unknown, damaged, defective or critically defective cases before they enter the next handling stage.
Keep accepted batteries and devices in a defined temporary-storage setup while the next collection, transport or processing step is arranged.
Combine suitable material, separate exceptions and prepare the packaging, labeling and information required for the defined onward route.
Recycling and waste operators need feedstock to arrive with the condition, quantity and process information required for sorting and treatment.
Start with the collection challenge
The right physical setup depends on where batteries enter the network, what is known about their condition and what must happen next.
Retail teams need an intuitive way to receive returned batteries and devices, identify exceptions and hold them before pickup.
Visible damage, leakage, swelling or abnormal behavior should not disappear into the standard collection flow.
Used, defective, damaged and production-scrap batteries may arrive together but require sorting and clear process information.
Retailers, service centers, carriers, waste operators and recyclers need a consistent view of status, ownership and documentation.
The Lokistix solution
LOKI-FlexProtect supports temporary storage at the collection point. LOKI-Pack extends the flow into reviewed transport and storage configurations for onward logistics, waste and recycling processes.
A protective temporary-storage layer for defined retailer, service-center and decentralized collection workflows. FlexProtect supports receipt and temporary holding before pickup or handover; it is not presented as ADR/UN-approved transport packaging.
Find safe collection equipmentA reusable, modular packaging platform for reviewed battery transport and storage configurations across waste, recycling and damaged-battery flows as applicable. Standard, Universal and Safety paths are selected according to the battery condition and approved route.
Find the appropriate packaging solutionFor suitable collection workflows, LOKI-FlexProtect can provide the temporary-storage layer while the specified LOKI-Pack configuration supports the onward transport process.
Optional digital layer
LOKI-Track can connect packaging, assets, condition information, alerts, documents and guided handovers across collection and recycling workflows.
Connect the battery or packaging asset with its collection and handover context.
Make condition data and relevant events visible to responsible teams.
Assign the documents required for the defined collection, storage or onward process.
Support defined status changes and handover steps with digital workflow guidance.
